Our Organic Farm
Nestled in the foothills of the sacred Monastery of Faneromeni, near our headquarters in Agios Nikolaos, lies our idyllic organic farm.
This privately-owned, 100-acre botanical wonder acts as a nursery for Crete’s unique flora and fauna, preserving hundreds of different species of aromatic herbs, plants and trees – natural treasures gifted to us by Mother Nature.
Blessed with a perfect microclimate thanks to its position at the crossroads of Mediterranean winds, our farm’s altitude and the special morphology of its soil ensure this incredibly fertile land is the perfect place to cultivate and nurture the ingredients used to create our results-driven products. This very land gives our products their potency, blessing them with distinctive aromas and authentic flavours that have the power to soothe the soul.
So, it’s vital that we tread lightly in this special place, cultivating herbs with care using age-old methods and applying sustainable practices to whatever we grow. We pick olives by hand, cold-pressing this ‘liquid gold’, to produce olive oil with low acidity, a rich aroma and an intensely fruity taste. And we collect our honey raw to maximise its nutritional benefits, taking only the excess produced by the bees in our hives. Only too aware of the worrying plight of bees around the world, we believe our pollen-rich land, which is free from pesticides and the use of intensive farming methods, makes for the perfect bee-friendly sanctuary.
Maintaining the highest-quality production of our products through traditional methods is key for Bioaroma, but so too is our commitment to protecting the planet. It’s this commitment that has inspired our pursuit of environmental conservation and sustainability, always striving to do whatever we can to ensure we are consciously making a difference. We are proud to be one of the first companies in the world with a zero carbon footprint, and through our use of natural fertilisers, renewable energy sources, and effective water management, we protect, conserve and use our resources wisely. When we say natural beauty, we really mean it.
