Sage essential oil is derived from the leaves of the sage plant through steam distillation. With a characteristic earthy, herbaceous, and slightly fruity scent, sage essential oil has been used traditionally for its therapeutic benefits. It has excellent antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties, making it useful in treating a variety of skin conditions, such as acne, eczema, and dermatitis. Sage oil is also effective in the treatment of cellulite and local fat due to its fat dissolving action. When used in aromatherapy, sage oil is believed to help with mental clarity, improve memory, and alleviate stress and anxiety. It is also used traditionally in clearing rituals of negative energies and can be used aromatically in this way. However, it is important to note that sage oil should not be used during pregnancy or by individuals with epilepsy or high blood pressure. As with all essential oils, sage oil should be used with caution and always be diluted before use.
